Electrical Installer

We are experiencing some exciting growth and require an Electrical Installer.  This individual will take responsibility for the installation of the electrical portions of our machines and ensure they integrate with the other systems to produce a quality product that meets our customer needs.

They will work with and assist the Mechanical Installers to meet project deadlines and improve installation processes, schedules and customer satisfaction.  In addition, they will execute tasks with a high degree of organization, accuracy, and professionalism. As well, they will work within a high-paced, dynamic environment with multiple, sometime competing, priorities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Read and understand electrical drawings, schematics and specifications.

  • Install power cables and control wiring according to accepted standards and practices.

  • Test and troubleshoot installed hardware and wiring.

  • Work safely and carefully.

  • Keep a clean and organized work area.

  • Communicate professionally with customers as required, maintaining excellent relationships on behalf of ATA.

  • Support engineers with system design and problem solving.

  • Participate in product FMEA sessions with Engineering team from an electrical perspective.

  • Assist the Lead Mechanical Installer as required.

  • Lead and coordinate the work of contractors during peak times.

  • Perform machine ESA inspections and PSA inspections.

  • Assist with the improvement of ATA products.

  • Ensure implementation of electrical as-built updates with engineering team.

  • Manage inventory of electrical components, material and tooling, purchase inventory parts according to machine build plan

  • Work safely, follow company Health and Safety procedures and promote safety within the company.

  • Other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, we believe this individual needs to have:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics or similar discipline

  • Knowledge of Electrical Standards for machine wiring.

  • Familiarity with CSP SPe-1000 standard is an asset.

  • Practical experience in assembly, installation, maintenance of electrical and automation systems, panel wiring and field wiring

  • Familiar with wiring gage, wiring tools, DMM and oscilloscope use, and a variety of hand tools

  • Some experience in automation safety circuits is desired

  • Hardware troubleshooting and testing experience preferred

  • Some experience in programming and troubleshooting PLCs would be beneficial

  • Experience with installing and troubleshooting servomotor controllers and temperature controllers.

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work

  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment

  • Highly motivated, team player, able to execute tasks with minimal guidance

Project Manager (Contract)

We are experiencing some exciting growth and require a Project Manager who will work closely with the leadership team members to forecast resource availability and the schedule of activities, looking 3 - 6 months ahead.  Work will include design phase of orders, build phase of orders, and advising for customer interactions.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Drive the operations of machine orders, schedule tasks, ensure operations are on track, verify task completion, and coordinate resources in response to challenges.

  • Implement tracking system and work breakdown.

  • Take ownership of the task list and achieve a thorough understanding of what is required to validate completion of order tasks.

  • Proactively seek to identify risk points and critical steps in production operations before they happen.

  • Initiate, coordinate and track quality control activities at the end of the build phase, working closely with engineering.

  • Monitor the allocated budgeting of each project, work towards targets set by database numbers and/or leadership team.

  • Interact with customers, arrange meeting times, create agendas, take minutes, follow-up on action items.  Include Sales in customer communication.

  • Prepare and manage standard project documentation, such as project charters, project status updates, engineering change notices, acceptance checklists, close-out forms, etc.

  • Attend internal Project Review Meetings with the other group leaders and report on project performance and any lessons learned.

  • Work safely, follow company Health and Safety procedures and promote safety within the company.


Qualifications

To be successful in this role, we believe this individual needs to have:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment. Working with machine manufacturing would be preferred. Knowledge of how to design and build a custom test machine is ideal.

  • Engineering experience or education is a strong benefit.

  • PMP certification preferred.

  • Self driven, accustomed to using a hands-on approach.

  • Past experience working within a smaller company (<40 people) would be beneficial.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.

Software Architect

We are experiencing some exciting growth and are looking for a visionary leader to fill the role of Software Architect.  This individual would lead the development of the ATA software suite, guiding its definition, envisioning how it will be utilized in the immediate future, and also how it will transform and evolve to meet the needs of our current and future customers.  This individual will have the ability to visualize, document, communicate and lead the development of a suite of software so that ATA customers achieve superior results and ATA dominates its market niche.

The Software Architect will be one of the company’s leading experts while fostering a culture of innovation, acting as a senior leader within the company, living our values and working with other department leaders to make decisions in the best interests of the company.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Translate market and customer needs into a suite of specific software products.

  • Reporting to the President, develop and maintain a software product roadmap, ensuring that the ATA software suite stays ahead of customer and internal requirements during very rapid growth.

  • Enhance the software suite’s contribution as part of a complex system.

  • Guide the software team; coordinate the internal and external resources who solve challenging technical problems for new and existing products.

  • Ensure that project goals and objectives are consistently achieved

  • Manage and coordinate multiple products and projects simultaneously.

  • Create and communicate action plans to cross-functional teams to meet short and long term targets.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong personal, professional and customer relationships.  Occasionally present at industry/customer meetings on the President’s behalf.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, ideally in mechanical or electrical engineering, coupled with extensive software experience.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in technology field (STEM), not necessarily computer programming.  A Master’s Degree in a relevant specialty would be advantageous.

  • Proven leadership experience motivating teams, collaborating with others, adapting, and organizing. Sets and maintains high performance standards with the ability to deliver.

  • Project Management experience.  Can think in terms of broad objectives, but deliver on the details such as the project scope, schedule and cost.

Senior Mechatronics Engineer

  • Develop complete mechanical subsystems using SolidWorks for ATA test equipment.

  • Ensure component sizing, selection, and configuration based on customer specifications and applicable industry standards and regulations.

  • Perform engineering calculations, conduct physical tests and analyse test data to validate design decisions.

  • Generate detailed engineering drawings per ASME Y14.5M-1994, ISO 1302, ISO 2768-mK.

  • Prepare technical portions of customer documentation.

  • Interface with suppliers and business teams, both during new development and service/maintenance stages.

  • Work safely, follow company Health and Safety procedures and promote safety within the company.

  • Assist in other departments as needed and time permits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-6 years of design experience in machine design, mechatronics integration or robotic design.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Professional designation (P.Eng. C.E.T., any of IFPS certifications) is an asset

  • Proficiency in mechanical design, specifically industrial machinery and fluidic instrumentation.

  • Design experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and ability to interpret fluid power schematics.
